NATIONAL CHAMPION. [see PDF file for age estimate] You can see the slow growth from the timber cross section; Yamba is on the left, a sample of the same species from Euston NSW on the right. Both are from low dead branches and must be hundreds of years old. I estimate the Yamba tree at circa 400 years. Over-mature tree with crown damage. Crown units healthy. in mallee cleared for wheat farming. |
